Autry Adventures Summer Camp classes are weeklong, Monday through Friday, June 23 through July 18. Morning sessions are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon; afternoon sessions are from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Early Bird Discount class fees are $70 for members and $75 for nonmembers until May 31. Tiles and Terra Cotta: A Bus Tour
9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m.
In collaboration with the Los Angeles Conservancy, the Autry presents an exclusive architectural tour of Los Angeles. Examine the use of ornamental tile and terra cotta pottery on the exteriors and interiors of Los Angeless landmark buildings. The day begins with a guided tour of the exhibition California Pottery: From Missions to Modernism, led by exhibition curator Bill Stern. Buildings included in the tour are United Artists Theatre, the Eastern Columbia Building, the Bradbury Building, Union Station, and the Los Angeles Central Public Library. Please allow approximately $15 for lunch on your own at downtowns Philippes Restaurant. Space is limited, and reservations are highly recommended. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $50 for Autry Museum and Los Angeles Conservancy members and $60 for nonmembers. Dont miss out on this very special opportunity to discover the beauty of working with clay, color, and glaze. Even if you dont believe that you have any artistic ability, we can prove that with careful instruction, the desire to learn, and a little bit of practice, you too can make pottery. During this eight-week studio course, you will receive instruction on hand building, wheel throwing, and finishing techniques. The two-hour long classes take place at Piasko Ceramics Pottery Studio in North Hollywood on Thursdays, October 2November 20. Terra Cotta: A Walking Tour

Terra cotta (baked earth) is a marvelous and versatile building material. It can be molded into almost any form, produced in a wide variety of colors, and made to look like many other, more expensive, materials such as marble and stone. This 2 ½ hour walking tour of downtown Los Angeles explores the use of terra cotta as building ornamentation, ranging from the blue-green extravagance of the Eastern Columbia Building to the Gothic wonder of Ernest Batchelder's work in lobby of the Fine Arts Building.
