January 12th 1880
Dear Grand Pa and Grand Ma

as Ma was writing I thought I would write you a few lines to let you know we are all well there was the sweetest little baby here last night Mr Johnsons staid here all night Mr Johnson preaches here evry two weeks Maggie & Stella are in bed asleep & I must tell you how I spent Christmas eve we all went to a Christmas tree on Christmas eve I1 got a new red oil calico dress I will send you a piece of them a each one of us girls {Begin inserted text}got{End inserted text} a doll and uncle Giles put a book on for sabra and me & each one of us girls a string with cady and raisins on it. Christmas day we all went to uncle Gileses & Newyears we were invited to a Newyears dinner up to Mr Bumgardners. I eat till I nearly bursted eating oysters & good things. I will tell you what I study Reading and Arithmatic & Spelling & Geography & Writing Christman night I got pair of stockings & a nice new book called the three white kittens & Sabra & Maggie both got a new pair of stockings & primer books & Newyears all of us girls got a candy apple apeice & a paper {Begin inserted text}sack{End inserted text} of mixed cand & a paper sach of raisins
