Native Voices at the Autry

Native Voices at the Autry is devoted to developing and producing new works for the stage by Native American playwrights. Since 1999, Native Voices at the Autry has produced Equity productions of Urban Tattoo, Jump Kiss, The Buz'Gem Blues, Please Do Not Touch the Indians, Kino & Teresa, Stone Heart, and The Red Road. In addition, Native Voices has held thirty-six workshops and presented twenty-eight staged readings of new plays by Native playwrights featuring Native American actors.

For the past five years, Native Voices at the Autry has been working with Native American youths at the Southern California Indian Center, the American Indian Clubhouse, and the Coeur d'Alene Tribal School. Through its Young Native Voices Theater Education Project, Native Voices has provided workshops and presented thirty-five staged readings of ten-minute plays by Native American student writers.
